Hi everyone,
I'm so glad to see the end of November! It's been so busy with many stampin' events and weekends and although I'm glad for all of them I'm ready for a break! With only some Christmas events to attend now I can relax a bit and finish making my Christmas cards, projects and gifts that I've been wanting to do for awhile now.
On one of my recent craft retreats I saw a talented crafter making home decor projects with dollar store canvasses and rub-ons and was so taken by what I saw that I decided I HAD to try it for myself. I wish I had taken pictures of her art work but for some reason it didn't even cross my mind. They were absolutely stunning projects and her choice of colors really made her work pop.
As soon as I came home from the crafting weekend I ordered myself a "Welcome" Decor Element Vinyl Rub-on and decided to try my hand at a similar project. I went out and purchased several dollar store paint canvasses had my hubby glue them together, I then painted the frame edges with black acrylic paint, cut and taped together a few pieces of Sahara Sand Textured paper and proceeded to stencil in black paint the "Flourish" Decor Stencil from Stampin' Up!. After all the paint dried I finished the piece off by rubbing on the welcome words.
Here's my version, ready to hang in the front entrance!
It was so much fun to make, took me maybe 30 minutes to make and cost me only $10 !! And with the current special from Stampin' Up! you can get a FREE Decor Element (up to $22.95) with your purchase of $65 from the Holiday Gift Giving Guide. Which means you could essentially make this as a gift for a couple bucks and it looks like you spent $30!! How cool would that be on your Christmas budget!?
The FREE Decor Special is on until January 4, 2010!
Enjoy!
Liane
